Weslaco City Commission Appoints New Board Member To EDC

 

WESLACO, Texas – The EDC of Weslaco announces Kristopher M. Garcia as the newly appointed member of the Board of Directors for the Economic Development Corporation of Weslaco (EDCW). Garcia was appointed by the Weslaco City Commission in February to serve a 3-year, 2-term limit. “With Garcia’s knowledge and business mindset,” says Executive Director, Steven M. Valdez, “he will be a great asset to our exceptional team and contribute to the momentum of growth we’re seeing in Weslaco.”

The EDC of Weslaco is dedicated to the creation of jobs through the recruitment of new industries and helping existing companies relocate and/or expand. 

“With this great responsibility assigned to me by the EDCW Board and elected city officials,” says Garcia, “it is all with the common goal of making Weslaco a better place to live, especially for the youth in our community.” 

Garcia is an Account Executive at a local insurance agency. His career began as a General Manager and Head Golf Professional in the PGA of America from 2002-2014, working in San Antonio, Texas, and later in Laguna Vista, Texas. In 2014, he transitioned into a new career change at Sentry Insurance, working with manufacturing and distribution commercial insurance, and managing the South Texas Territories. By 2021, Garcia partnered with the local agency he is currently employed with today.

EDCW board meetings are held every third Wednesday of the month.
