“What’s great about this new company coming to Weslaco is this exact location (Westgate Drive),” the corporation’s Executive Director Steven M. Valdez said in the release. “It’s not off the expressway, it doesn’t rely on highway traffic visibility, but it recognizes the value of our neighborhood growing off the mainstream.”
Dutch Bros’ location will be housed at Shops at Westgate, where the building will be constructed on roughly one acre of the 7-acre tract, the release stated. The development is being constructed by Garansuay Group, a San Antonio-based company who previously developed the city’s Shops at N Bridge.
“We believe that public-private partnerships, like those promoted by EDCW, play a crucial role in stimulating economic growth and stability in communities,” Craig Garansuay said in the release. “By working together, businesses and local government can identify opportunities for investment and growth by developing strategies that benefit the public.”
The groundbreaking featured Garansuay, mayor pro tem Jose “JP” Rodriguez, EDCW Board President Juan Jose “JJ” Serrano and Kayla Batista, the regional operator for Dutch Bros Coffee.
Dutch Bros’ Weslaco location will be its fifth location in the Valley. Previously, the chain opened locations in McAllen and Mission, with plans to also develop locations in Harlingen and Alamo.
“Dutch Bros owners selected Weslaco with the confidence that our own set of community values will make their store profitable,” Valdez said.A groundbreaking ceremony was held Friday, May 12, 2023, for Dutch Bros Coffee’s latest location in Weslaco. (Courtesy: City of Weslaco/Facebook)
